New Year and Resolutions!

I hope everyone had a safe and fun New Year celebration!  I can't believe it's already 2012!!!  This year has flown by and has been filled with many happy memories and accomplishments.  I established my own business and it's doing wonderfully, my hubby and I bought our first house, and we got pregnant for the first time.  2012 is sure to bring many more joys plus a new addition to our family that I can't wait to meet!

I have so many resolutions, all for different aspects of life...pre baby, post baby, business related.  I want to test shoot a lot before April, and not buy as much makeup as I did last year (yeah, right lol).  I also want to continue to build my business and book as much as I can before and after baby Sofi arrives.  I can't wait to see what this year brings!!!

Happy New Year from me, Stephen, and Sofi bump :)  Who else has a list of resolutions???

New Publication!!!

Hi Everyone and belated Merry Christmas!!!

Holly and Berries

I was really iffy about red and green, but it can be done!  And it turned out way cute!

First, I used a shimmery gold highlight from my crease to my brow.  Then, I used MUFE’s matte red all over my lid and then used Lime Crime’s Siren over top to give it some sheen.  I blended Urban Decay’s Absolom (from the Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows) in the crease from the inner corner to outer corner.  Make sure you blend it with the red to a little above your crease so when you open your eye you see green on top, red on bottom.  I patted Lime Crime’s Elf into the Absolom to make it brighter.  Then I lined my eye on top with a black liner and glued three small jewels along the liner at the outer corner with eyelash adhesive.

Under my eye, I used NYX’s jumbo eye pencil in Black Bean along my waterline and then, using a wet brush, lined underneath my eye with Lime Crime’s Elf.  Mascara on upper and lower lashes, and you’re done.  For my lips, I mixed Lime Crime’s Siren with a clear gloss.

Holiday Party Glittery Eye

I wore this look to my husband's Squadron Christmas party and taught a class on how to the next day.  I love this look!  Great for Christmas parties or New Year's!  You can also take it a step further than me and apply the glitter over your entire lid instead of just the inner corner.

How To:

1. Prime upper lid with concealer/primer.  I used Urban Decay's Primer Potion

2. Apply eyeshadow and liner in whichever style you desire. I used MAC's Blacktrack Fluidline from my lower lash line to just below my crease, then blended it up a little past my crease to get rid of any harsh lines and create a smokey appearance.  I followed that with MUFE's #04 (matte black eyeshadow), pressing it into the Blacktrack to make it darker and set it.  Then I lined under my eye with #04 and Blacktrack in the waterline.

3. Dab on a thin layer of Too Faced’s Glitter Glue in the inner corner of your eye and follow with glitter working small sections at a time so the Glue doesn't dry. (You can also use Eyelash Adhesive, but I like the Glitter Glue much better).  Press the glitter into the Glue instead of sweeping it on.  I used NYX's Eye Glitter in Disco Ball.  (You can also do this process across your entire lid if so desired).

4. Brush excess glitter off eye and clean up fall out

5. Apply Mascara and false lashes (if desired)

6. Finish the rest of your face.

Foundation - Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Foundation, MAC's Skinfinish Natural Powder
Cheeks - Dark Pink blush from Coastal Scents palette, Matte Dark Brown eyeshadow as contour
Brows - Matte Dark Brown eyshadow
Lips - MAC Dazzlegloss in Dressed to Dazzle

This look stayed for hours and my face wasn't covered with glitter by the end of the night!

Teal Baby!!

I love this color!  It’s super bright and sure to bring lots of attention to your eyes.  I used MAC’s Blacktrack creme liner as a base all over the lid up to the crease.  I love it cause once it dries, it stays but gives you enough time to blend it or smudge it.  Before it dried, I pressed Make Up For Ever’s Star Powder in 944(Iridescent Blue) into the base.  It exaggerates the iridescent color and makes it pop!  Make sure to keep blending the crease so you don’t have a harsh line.  I blended the iridescent color all the way up to my brows.  Then I smudged the Blacktrack along the lash line of my lower lid.  Then lots of mascara.  That’s it!  (And forgive my brows…I hadn’t tweezed in a bit lol).

Also only 5 days left for my Philosophy giveaway!!!  Enter will you can!!!

Gold Metal

Metallic shades are hot this holiday season!!  For my first look, I did a gold eye that would be cute on any color skin, just make sure you find a gold shade that compliments your skin tone.

I started with Urban Decay’s eye shadow primer all over my lid, then used Buxom’s Stay There Eye Shadow in Poodle (it’s a pale yellow gold) all over my lid up to my brow.  In the inner corner of my eye, I used a bright gold color from my Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Bronzer palette.  Then I used MAC’s Pigment in Gold Lemon blending it with the shadow in my inner corner to the outer corner of my eye, up to the crease.  On the outer corner of my eye, I very lightly blended a matte black shadow into the pigment to give some depth in a small triangular shape.  Then I lined my eyes with Lorac’s Eyeliner Pen in black, extending out to a small wing.  I followed that line with Hard Candy’s Walk the Line liquid eyeliner in Licorice (multi color sparkly black).

On my waterline, I used the bright gold shadow and then smudged a thin line of black shadow underneath it.  Then I follow with a black mascara, let it dry, and then coated the mascara with Hard Candy’s Lash Tinsel glitter mascara in Gold Digger.

For my lips I used MUFE’s Aqua Lip pencil in 8C and MUFE’s lip color in 204, mixed with Julie Hewitt’s Rouge Noir and a clear gloss.

Nails Inc. Magnetic Polish

So Much Fun!  I love it!  It's a magnetic nail lacquer that creates 3D nail art designs.  The lacquer comes in three shades, Trafalgar Square (chrome), Houses of Parliament (purple, that's the one I bought), and Whitehall Teal (teal). This nail lacquer is developed with metallic particles to create a pattern on the nail using magnetic forces. As the magnet is held over the nail, the iron powder in the formulation gravitates toward the magnet forming the pattern secretly hidden in the magnet. The magnet is included in the cap of the nail polish.

Here's how to use it:

-Remove any oil from your nails by cleaning your nails with nail polish remover.
-Take off the over-cap that contains the magnet and set aside.
-Apply one coat of your chosen magnetic polish on all 10 nails and let dry for a few minutes.
-To create the "magnetic effect," apply a generous coat of magnetic polish to one nail, and immediately hold the cap that contains the magnet over the nail. (Do this quickly while the polish is still wet. There is a small lip on the cap which should be placed just below your cuticle allowing the magnet to be positioned perfectly over your nail.)
-Hold very close to the nail for 10-15 seconds, taking care not to touch the nail with the magnet.
-Repeat on all 10 nails and apply a top coat to seal the design.

End results, gorgeousness!  The only thing I didn't like about this lacquer is the price.  $16 is a lot to spend on a nail lacquer, but it's cheaper than going to the spa :)

Polish goes on smooth (hadn't cleaned up yet, messy nails sorry :)

After Magnification :)
