Green Sheen

I love this eye!  Gorgeous combo of MAC's Dark Indulgence from the Semi-Precious collection and Too Faced Petals to the Metal Exotic Intense Eyeshadow.  The dark green from Dark Indulgence plays in wonderfully with the green sheen of Petals to the Metal!

Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Foundation

Wow!

I actually love this foundation and am in shock over it.  I've never really been a big fan of Smashbox anything, but I love this foundation.  It took some playing around to find my shade since a lot of their foundations have pink undertones (why I don't know), but once I found my color, 3.2, it's beautiful!

I was using MAC's Studio Fix Powder or Studio Fix Fluid, both of which have completely ruined my skin.  I never had this many breakouts until I started using MAC foundations, but they do give beautiful coverage.  I'll still continue to use their Skinfinish Natural Powders cause they are light, but can't do their foundations anymore.  I love, love, love the full coverage and finish MAC foundations give, but you end up needing all that coverage in the long run to cover all the blemishes you get.

Anywho, back to Smashbox.  This foundation is oil-free, hydrating (but then most liquid foundations are), and long wearing.  It says 15 hour wear on the bottle and so far it's going strong.  I've even sweated in it (hot out today in AZ) and it still looks perfect.  It also contains an SPF 10...not much, but any little bit of sun protection is an added bonus.

This foundation is supposed to improve skin's hydration by 25% in eight weeks...I'll let you know how that's going eight weeks from now.  It's also humidity resistant, shine free, and I rubbed my shirt against it and it didn't transfer onto my clothes!!!  It's super light-weight and comfortable and looks natural.  It's gives medium coverage when first applied, but can be built to full coverage without looking gunked on.

I have major love for this foundation.  I'll give an update in a few weeks on how it's working.

Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol IV

I'm such a sucker for Urban Decay.  I saw their new book of shadows and immediately had to have it. The colors in the palette are gorgeous with an even dark to light ratio.  There are a few tried and true colors like Baked, Sin, and Midnight Cowgirl, but an array of new colors too like Blue Bus, Hijack, and Bust.  As always with Urban Decay, the colors are super pigmented, blendable, and go on smoothly.  None of the shadows are matte, they all have a metallic sheen to them.  The only thing I didn't like about this palette was the price point...$64 is a little extreme.  I had to debate with myself to buy it (only lasted a few seconds but still).  Then there's the speaker that comes with the palette...I don't know if they threw that in there to raise the price but I think it's pretty pointless.  I don't need my makeup palette to play music for me.  But all the shadows are beautiful, the palette that they come in is pretty too.  I love all the butterflies.  It also comes with a liquid liner in Perversion, a mini mascara, and a mini tube of the original primer potion.

All in all I love this palette as I always to with UD, all the shadow colors are divine...just next time take out the speaker and lower the price.

LOTD 21 - Identity Festival Las Vegas 2011

Identity Festival was a totally different ball game for me when it came to dress and makeup.  I wanted loud, fun, bright, and crazy!!!  That's exactly what I did.  I was excited for ID Fest cause I few of my faves would be playing like Kaskade, The Crystal Method, Rusko, and Afrojack.  I was also excited cause I knew I could dress as crazily as I wanted and I would fit right in with all the other eccentrically dressed peoples.  I wanted to dress as a rave kitty, so I bought a pair of cosplay cat ears that I could just snap into my hair, I made a tail out of black and purple fuzzy boas, I stamped another pair of black flare leg jeans with glow in the dark (and blacklight) fabric paint in paw prints, happy faces, and stars, and I bought fuzzy pink clips for my hair (I glued on the ribbon) and fuzzy black cuffs for my wrists.  I think it turned out pretty good.  I just had the shirt lying around and thought it would be totally cute with the outfit.  Loves it!  Especially my tail :)  Then I added Glowbys hairlights (light up fiber optic hair clips) to my hair and tail.  They were rainbow colored, so cute!  I wanted my makeup to match my bright funness going on, so I used my neon colors in my Sleek makeup Acid palette and lots of different colored jewels.  And since I knew I was going to be dancing all night again (this time 4 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.) it was an airbrush foundation night.

LOTD 20 - Deadmau5 Meowingtons Hax Concert

I loooovvveeeedddd this look I did for the Deadmau5 concert in Vegas.  I wanted it to be fun and flirty, but still elegant since the concert was at the Cosmopolitan.  Once I got there, I figured out it didn't matter how ritzy the place was, Vegas people are gonna dress the way they want.  You think I would have known that since I grew up there lol.  Whatever, I loved my makeup and outfit and it was a great group of people no matter how crazily they were dressed.  The music was amazing, the light show phenomenal, Deadmau5 knows how to put on a show.  I was in front of the stage and in front of the speaker the entire time...I thought I was going to be deaf by the end of the show...but I loved feeling the air from the speakers as the wobble of the bass shook my entire body and at times, caused my heart to skip a beat....I love music.  But enough about music, more about makeup, my other love :)  Since I knew I was going to be dancing all night (and I really was 10 p.m. - 3 a.m., in heels!!!!) I used my airbrush for my foundation and blush cause I knew my other foundations would sweat off, rub off, melt off...they just wouldn't cut it for that night.  And sure enough, even through all the dancing, jumping, and sweating my makeup stayed put and I looked flawless all night!!

Make Up For Ever and Sephora Haul

One of the most exciting parts of my Vegas trip was visiting the Make Up For Ever boutique at the Venetian!  It has every MUFE product and accepts pro discount!!  No waiting for it to show up in the mail and I can play with products there :)  It's attached to the huge Sephora there, so, of course, I had to see what they had too.  I needed skin care products and I'm obsessed with Ole Heneriksen skin care.  Their products have worked wonders with my skin. And most of them smell like oranges...delicious!!  I also stopped by MAC while I was there.  Didn't buy much, just a few cream liners from the MAC Me Over collection.

Anywho, here's what I bought!

Sephora - Ole Henriksen skin care kit containing Reveal the Truth Serum (amazing serum, i love vitamin c serums and this one makes your skin look and feel fantastic.  And it smells like oranges), Sheer Transformation Cream (great for fading pigmentation, super light and sheer moisture, perfect to put makeup over), and Invigorating Night Gel (haven't tried this one yet, the other two I've been using for months, but I'm excited to use it).  I also bought their Ultimate Lift Eye Gel (cools, lifts, and fades dark circles, love it!).

Make Up For Ever boutique - I had ran out of their Sens' Eyes makeup remover, so I had to get that (amazing makeup remover, great for sensitive eyes, not oily, can go right back over it with makeup), Concealer Palette with green corrector (my most often used out in AZ), HD Primer (just the original one, no corrector colors, great primer for the skin, makes skin silky smooth without too much slip), Smokey Lash mascara (I needed mascara and this one doesn't flake or raccoon my eyes), 3 Aqua Liners in Diamond Turquoise Blue, Iridescent Electric Purple, and Iridescent Fuchsia (highly pigmented, high precision, waterproof liners...I will own them all one day.  Such gorgeous color and they DO NOT MOVE!!), and a black flat puff (I use it when applying makeup to keep my fingers from smudging makeup).

MAC - Cream Liners in Blacktrack (always used, standard in my kit), Dark Deversion (loved the color) and Dark Envy (loved this color too).  Nothing else from the MAC Me Over collection held any interest for me.

Not too shabby.  I also stopped by Inglot...didn't buy anything cause I ran over me makeup budget already (whoops), but really wanted too lol.  Gives me something to look forward to next time :)

Behind the Scenes with Schylar Rene

Schylar's story is one of inspiration.  14 year old Schylar had begun to put an amazing portfolio together when last June, her modeling career came to a screeching halt.  She was attacked by a neighbor's dog, it ripped out part of her nasal cavity and part of her lip.  A year later, after stitches and numerous surgeries, the scars are barely visible now and Schylar was ready to get her modeling career back on track.  An organization called Models helping Models and it's founder, David Kidd, heard about Schylar's story and wanted to help her rebuild her portfolio.  She flew out to Phoenix and did 11 shoots in 5 days!  I was able to be a part of 3 of those shoots and Schylar rocked everyone one.  With her amazing personality and determination, I see big things on the horizon for this young model!
